New Zealand, July 04, 2025 – 2025 marks the 45-year milestone since the inception of Audi quattro, which has been a core pillar of the brand with four rings, heroing innovation, performance, and progress. In celebration, Audi New Zealand has announced exciting new initiatives as part of its signature event - Audi ice experience – but it doesn’t stop there.

Audi has now confirmed it will bring back not one, but two Sedan models as a one-off, limited run. The Audi RS 3 Sedan and Audi S5 Sedan (previously Audi S4 Sedan) have not been available to order here in New Zealand since 2018.

Greg Leet, General Manager of Audi New Zealand explains how the decision was fuelled by a spike in enquiry during the global release for each model.

“Our dealer network has been fielding enquiry from all corners of the country regarding the Sedan variants of each model since the news was released globally. Listening to the feedback, Audi has worked impressively fast to ensure we can offer these Sedans to our customers. It will be a true nod to our heritage to see an Audi Sedan available once again – even if just for a limited time,” says Greg Leet.

Audi S5 Sedan

The all-new Audi S5 Sedan will be based on the S5 Avant which is now available to purchase. Starting at an MRP of $147,990*, this 3.0-litre V6 TFSI quattro model delivers a system output of 270 kW and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The S5 Sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. It has a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) and MHEV plus technology for the first time. The revised S tronic dual-clutch transmission in the Audi S5, designed for more torque, also reduces the weight on the front axle and improves agility. Partial electrification by means of the new 48-volt MHEV plus system leads to reduced CO2 emissions via electrified driving components and high recuperation performance.

The completely redesigned Sedan will offer a powerful and clean new design. From modified proportions with a long wheelbase, large wheels and a low, sporty body embody progressive dynamism and premium standards. In the Sedan, the sporty, compact-looking greenhouse stretches to the rear in a sweeping arc, flowing seamlessly into the shallow rear window in a coupé-like manner, and ends at the visually short tailgate with a striking spoiler lip.

The rear hatch, which is new in this vehicle segment, offers a convincing symbiosis of design and functionality. It opens with the rear window and its size makes access to the luggage compartment considerably easier. This results in a completely new sedan concept for Audi.

As an S model, this vehicle leads with a sporty exterior including 20” Audi Sport 5-twin-spoke black metallic, gloss-turned finished wheels, privacy glass, Matrix LED headlights and Digital OLED rear lights with dynamic indicators and customisable daytime running light signatures.

On the inside, customers will be impressed with an all-new design. Like the recently launched all-new S5 Avant, the Sedan will offer a new digital stage complete with premium, soft fabrics extending across the entire cockpit to each of the front doors, creating a homely ambiance. The curved, free-standing Audi MMI panoramic display with OLED technology takes centre stage alongside a standard MMI front passenger display, which is perfectly integrated into the dashboard design. The new S5 Sedan has a configurable head-up display that has been further developed compared to its predecessor. For the first time, drivers now have the option of controlling vehicle and infotainment functions via the head-up display.

Audi RS 3 Sedan

The new RS 3 Sedan will be based on the new RS 3 Sportback which is now available to purchase starting from $133,990 MRP*. The RS 3 sedan brings with it some new equipment and options compared to the Sportback model including a new equipment package celebrating the vehicle record Nürburgring lap time (7: 33. 123 minutes).

The track package contains gloss carbon exterior features, a carbon engine cover, a direct tyre pressure monitoring system, Pirelli Trofeo Semi slick performance tyres, RS carbon racing seats, dinamica upholstery and dashboard inlay, carbon ceramic brakes. The track package is valued at $30,300 but will be available at a sharp price of $25,000.

The Sedan will be powered by the legendary 2.5 TFSI engine from Audi Sport with 294 kW and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. This means the RS 3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and can reach a top speed of 290 km/h[IE1]   with the track package. Numerous motorsport successes make the award-winning five-cylinder engine one of the most evocative at Audi and make driving the RS 3 an incomparable experience. This is due to its unique sound, which is based on the signature 1-2-4-5-3 firing sequence. In addition, the exhaust flap control was optimized in the rpm range between 2,200 and 3,500 revolutions. In this way, the five-cylinder generates a consistent and fuller-bodied sound no matter which mode is selected.

The basis for the impressively high driving dynamics is the interaction of the torque splitter with its fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, electronic stability control, wheel-selective torque control (brake torque vectoring), and the adaptive dampers of the RS sport suspension. Thanks to a further developed algorithm, they react even more acutely to the respective driving situations.
